Use your EBT Bridge Card at the City Market
The Lansing City Market now accepts Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT). EBT is an electronic system that allows a recipient to authorize transfer of their government benefits, including food stamps, from a federal account to a retailer account, to pay for products received. The program officially kicked off at the Market on Tuesday, February 19th. The Lansing City Market currently has twelve vendors accepting EBT food stamps; seasonally we will be increasing this number to minimally eighteen vendors. The Lansing City Market was one of six pilot markets in the state to offer the use of EBT, and the program is sustained through grant funding administered by the Michigan Farm Market Association, an organization with ties to MSU and Project for Public Spaces. The program was just awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the USDA in recognition of its endeavors. Michigan presently leads the nation with eleven farm markets participating in the program and currently accepting EBT.
